2005
Hi everyone. Another great weekend of racing. The KC Auto team ventured to
Lancaster Dragway for the Friday night PMRA shootout. This one wasn't to
be. Mother Nature called it an early night before our first qualifier. The
night wasn't over. The PMRA held an impromptu party with the racers and track
officials. It was a great night. On Saturday, the PMRA ventured to Skyview
Dragway in Pennsylvania. This facility is brand new and spectacular. The
KC Auto team qualified 5th. The team worked hard to sort a new clutch combination.
We got close. The night was a good one, with our victory in the shootout.
Our opponent was Jack Grainy. Jack left on us, but the Lumina reeled him
in. Not bad. Labour Day will see the PMRA at Cayuga for the Saturday night
show. Hope to see you there. Every weekend at the track is a great one. Kasey.

Tentative
Race Schedule Updated.
Hi
everyone. The racing
season has started.
The KC Auto Parts team
venture to Toronto
Motorsports Park for
the first PMRA event.
We arrived on Friday
night, after a week
long thrash to get
the Lumina done.
Saturday
was a beautiful day.
The weather was great,
our luck was not. Electrical
gremlins followed us
all day long. The KC
Auto team did not make
the cut for race day.
Sunday
was another beautiful
day. And our luck had
changed. The team had
found a shorted wire
on the kill solenoid
for the motor. Our
first pass was a straight
and true 6.59 at 212
mph. A few adjustments
were made.
The
next pass carded a
6.50 at 217 mph. The
team is definitely
headed in the right
direction. The weekend
ended on an up note.
Our next race will
be the July long weekend
in Luskville. Hope
to see you there. Hope
your summer is off
to a great start. Any
weekend at the track
is a great weekend.
Kasey.

Hi
everyone.
The
KC Auto team is back
to racing. The short
break served well
for us. All the cars
are repaired and
we are racing. Two
weekends ago, the
KC Auto team ventured
to Cayuga for their
Labour Day Spectacular.
The
corvette was back
in action. Nothing
but shake. We couldn't
get a handle on the
set up. We'll try
the vette again next
weekend at Cayuga.
This
past weekend, we
ventured to Cayuga
for the OSCA race.
The Lumina was transformed
with all the running
gear from the vette.
With the help of
Jim Oddy, the Lumina
came out running
strong. She qualified
3rd.
On
race day, we went
to the finals only
to lose to Andy Rankin.
It was great to be
going down the track.
A great weekend.

On
a sad note, during
the break, the KC
Auto team lost a
team member. My uncle,
Dave Facca, passed
away while on holidays.
He will be greatly
missed by all the
team and family members.
We race for Davey.
Hope to see you at
the races this weekend.
Kasey.

Hi everyone.
The KC Auto team ventured
to Grand Bend for the
CFSC shootout. The
weather was perfect.
Another great weekend
to be at the track.
Our troubles followed
us to the races again.
Our first qualifier
put us solidly in the
field. Nothing went
right after. We experienced
an oiling problem on
the next 2 qualifiers.
After quite a bit of
work, we discovered
the spring in the external
oil pump had broken.
A $2 part. This part
caused 2 main bearings
to blacken. This transferred
metal onto one of the
crank journals. Our
weekend was over. Good
thing that all weekends
at the track are good
ones. We have a break
until the next race.
Sometime at the end
of August. Hope everyone
has a great summer.
Talk to you then. Kasey.

Dragway 50th Anniversary

Hi
everyone
This past weekend was a very interesting one for the KC Motorsports team.
It started off very well with the car carding a soft 6.56 at 208 mph on
our first qualifier. It was great and only to get better. Then somehow
on that great pass the oil tank on the feared vette had split open across
the bottom. That sent me and the vette on the ride of my life. The car
and I survived all that and then scrubbed the guard wall at the end of
the track. An experience to say the least. |

I
was extremely lucky. The
car and motor are out being
repaired. The Lumina is
ready and waiting for it's
next adventure. The KC
Motorsports Team will be
heading for Toronto Motorsports
Park for the next OSCA
race this weekend. Hope
to see you there. Kasey.

Hi everyone.
The
KC Auto team ventured
to US 131 in Martin,
Michigan this past
weekend. This facility
is top notch. The Super
Chevy show as always
was spectacular.
The weather/air was the worst we've experienced so far this season.
This threw the KC Auto Parts Team for a loop, we chased the tune up and car
all weekend.
This
year is turning out to
be an continual learning
experience, thats for
sure. But not all lost
we are getting faster
and more consistant.
First round, the car was lazy. Only carding a 6.64 at 215 mph. The excitement
came in the shut down. No Brakes. The brakes had failed. The chutes worked
and I coasted around the corner at the end of the track and came to a safe
stop. Enough excitement for me.
We'll
be working hard on the
vette for the next race.
Hope to see you at Cayuga
on the 26th. Every weekend
at the track is a great
weekend. Kasey.

Thank to:

First outing with Lumina draws mixed blessings
Ready
with headlights, tail
lights and mufflers,
the KC Auto Team Lumina
made its debut at the
recent Ontario Street
Car Association meet
at Toronto Motorsports
Park just outside of
Cayuga.
And, as can occur with all new ventures, there were some problems to get sorted
out.
“ Our weekend was busy fighting electrical gremlins,” said team driver
Kasey Janzen, who pilots the Wix Filters /John Bear GM/Raybestos sponsored 1993
Chevy Lumina.
After getting the car out of the trailer and on the track the first day of
the OSCA meet, Janzen could only muster a 7.28-second pass, which placed him
in fifth spot for qualifying.
Sunday’s racing was not much better. Losing in the first round, the team
decided to get some test runs in after finding the engine problems, and Janzen
got the Lumina up and running well, carding a 6.84-second, 207 mph pass, not
shabby for a car with mufflers and lights.
“ I let the team down,” said Janzen after loosing in first round
action on Sunday. “I lost first round on a hole shot, a terrible letdown
for myself and the team.”
But he added the weekend was not without success, as the team got the engine
to run over 7500 rpm with the electrical problems corrected. And that’s
when the car ran the 6.84 pass, best of anyone for the meet.
“ On a test shot, we recorded the quickest pass by anyone on Sunday. We’ll
be ready for the next race.”
The KC Auto Team Lumina is the third car in the team’s stable. The former
Pro Modified car has been retrofitted to meet OSCA and Outlaw Street specifications.
Replacing the Lumina in the Pro Mod division is Wally Stroupe-built 1963 Corvette
powered by a Jim Oddy-built supercharged combination and sponsored by the Alaska
Troopers. The final car is the Pro Mod Chevy Beretta of team member Joe Buckley
of Pennsylvania, who joined the team this year.
The KC Auto Team is invited to Michigan for the Super Chevy race.
With
a crew consisting of
family and friends,
KC Motorsports is a
thriving automotive
jobber facility situated
in St. Catharines,
Ontario. KC Auto Parts,
a member of UniSelect,
employs 22 fulltime
people, supplying traditional
aftermarket automotive
parts with a strong
emphasis in the performance
market.
Along with John Bear, Raybestos, and Wix, the KC team is grateful for the sponsorship
of AutoFX Graphics and Signs, Valvoline Oil, Eagle One Waxes and Polishes,
and Dayco Canada.

The KC Auto Team ventured to Toronto Motorsports Park this past weekend for
the Super Chevy Show. Saturday morning we awoke to rain. We waited for the
weather to break, which turned out to be late afternoon. We knew that we were
only going to get one time trial, before eliminations tomorrow, so we had to
get the combination right the first time.
The
Alaskan State Trooper
Corvette rolled into
the burnout box for the
first qualifier. Posed
to lay down one heck
of a burn-out for the
fans that waited out
the rain. Things felt
great while staging the
Alaskan State Trooper
Corvette. The car launched
straight and true. Then
I screwed up. The car
shook and went sideways
in second gear. I pedaled
the car and saved the
run. A sub par 6.83 at
204 mph. We were qualified
number 4.
Sunday we awoke to a
beautiful day, the complete
opposite of Saturday.
We
were paired up with
the number 2 qualifier,
Randy Adler, they have
a great bunch of guys
on their team. The
State Trooper Vette
rolled into the box
with confidence this
time. The car again
left straight and true.
This time I did not
mess up. The car powered
out through the top
end at an astonishing
6.25 at 222 mph. Yet,
it was not good enough.
The KC auto team had
lost first round, because
of the rule that Alcohol
cars are not allowed
to advance against
Nitro Coupes :~(
After,
we came back out for
a test and tune pass,
and to show off the Alaskan
State Trooper Corvette
to the crowds once again.
The car launched , but
when second gear came
around and blew off the
tires.
Over all,
the weekend was a great
success. The vette is
one bad Hot-Rod and is
going to run strong this
summer.
Hope
to see you there. Kasey.
Hi
everyone.
The
KC Auto team is getting
an early start to the
drag season. We ventured
to Virginia Motorsports
Park this past weekend
for testing at the
CompetitionPlus Spring
Open.
The
new ‘Vette looks
great, and the new
Oddy power promises
big things. We unloaded
the car Friday for
a couple of test shots,
but the KC Auto team
experienced electrical
gremlins on both tries.
The
car carded an off-the-throttle
4.24 in the eighth.
The team worked through
the problems, however,
and awoke Saturday
with renewed vigor.
The first qualifier
for the race was eventful.
The ‘Vette launched
hard and straight,
ran through first gear
and shifted into second
with no problems. The
car was pulling hard
when the shift light
came on for high gear,
but I could not find
it!
What
an idiot. I over-revved
the motor and the blower
belt come off. When
this happened, the
car made a funny move
to the side. When I
pulled the chutes,
they didn't open. When
we did the maintenance
on the car, we found
the oil tank had split
at one of the seams,
so it was a good thing
the car didn't go from
A to B.
After
another thrash, the
KC Auto team came out
for the second qualifier.
The car left hard and
straight, and this
time we went straight
through the gears to
the finish line. It
ran an unbelievable
6.19 at 227 mph - our
best time by a mile.
We were the number
2 qualifier and sent
Scotty Cannon home!
The
final against Steve
Salvatore wasn’t
as good. I left on
him, but experienced
tire shake and had
to peddle the car.
It wasn’t enough
and we lost. The weekend
was a great success,
however. The KC Auto
team skipped through
the 20's, right into
the teens. We also
ran right through the
220 mph barrier.
On
a bad note, car owner
Joe Buckley sent the
Beretta on its roof.
Joe is fine, however,
and the car can be
repaired. I've got
to thank Joe for the
opportunity to pilot
the ‘Vette, Jim
and Bill from Oddy's
for the horsepower,
Joe from JSL for the
chassis set up, and
the guys on the KC
Auto team for the great
job. The next race
isn't till May. Hope
to see you there. Kasey.
Janzen
and Buckley Team
Up for 2004
Canadian Top Sportsman
and Pro Mod racer Kasey
Janzen announced today
that Joe Buckley’s
Not Guilty Racing will
join the KC Motorsports
team for an assault on
Outlaw Pro Mod and Outlaw
Street competition in
2004. Buckley, who is
based in Pennsylvania,
purchased Janzen’s
Beretta several years
ago.
With
this new partnership,
the combined teams will
run three cars this season – Buckley’s
Beretta and new Wally
Stroupe-built 1963 Corvette,
to be driven by Janzen,
will run in Outlaw Pro
Mod, while Janzen’s
Lumina will be retrofitted
for Outlaw Street.
“The Corvette
will be powered by our
trusted Jim Oddy-built
supercharged combination
and will be sponsored
by the Alaskan State
Troopers,” said
Janzen. “We’ll
run it in the Outlaw
Pro Mod wars as well
as local top sportsman
events. The
Beretta will be piloted
by Joe Buckley and will
also compete in Outlaw
Pro Mod and local top
sportsman events.
“The third car
in our stable is the
Lumina we've raced the
past several seasons,” Janzen
added. “It’ll
be fitted with mufflers,
head lights, and tail
lights and race in the
Outlaw Street category
in the OSCA and Canadian
Fastest Street Car Shootout.
“We are looking
forward to great performances
with the addition of
Joe and his team; this
year promises to be our
best yet. Our first test
session will be in March
at the CompetitionPlus.com
Spring Open at Virginia
Motorsports Park.”
