| Hi Everyone.
04 lets ROCK...
The KC
Auto team ventured to
Esta Park on Sunday.
Esta is a small town
drag strip. A great place
to race. They were holding
their Quick 8 shootout.
The Wix
Lumina came out of the
box firing on all 8.
We carded a 4.39 at 161
mph. Good enough for
the number 2 spot. Sorry,
I forgot to mention the
race was 1/8th mile.
That's
where our luck ran out.
The Wix Lumina broke
the drivetrain again.
It has been a year of
broken parts. The weather
was great, and the racing
was fantastic.
All weekends
at the track are great
ones. The year is almost
over. If I don't talk
to you before the Christmas
holidays, have a great
one. Kasey.
Sept 22/03
Hi everyone.
The KC Auto team ventured
to Lebanon Valley this
past weekend, for their
final ProMod race of the
season.
Only 3 of us made this
trip, my Dad (Henry),
Uncle Dave and myself.
I worked my trail off.
First thing Saturday morning,
I switched the gear set
back to our 4:71's. Then
I checked the clutch over
and did the routine maintenance.
All the hard work paid
off. The KC Auto team
was qualified #2 after
the first shot. A 6.54
at 215 mph. On the second
qualifier, the Wix Lumina
experienced an electrical
malfunction that forced
me to abort the pass.
Good news
was, the Wix Lumina was
still qualified #2.
Sunday was
a beautiful day. Race
day. Our first round opponent
was Terry Hall. This would
be a good race. I staged
the car, the lights came
down, and off we went.
I had .014 of a second
head start, Terry having
a snooze. The Wix Lumina
ran hard through first
and second gear. I shifted
into high gear and instantly
everything went silent.
I sat coasting as Terry
went by.
The Wix
Lumina had kicked the
blower belt off. Another
way to lose. I'm pretty
sure we have found everyway
possible to lose this
year. On the brighter
side, the car is running
strong and not hurting
itself. Hope to see you
at the next race.
The KC
Auto team will venturing
to Esta Park, October
12.
A weekend
at the track is always
a great weekend. See ya.
Kasey.
Sept 2/03
Hi everyone.
Another great weekend
of drag racing. The KC
Auto team started off
Friday night at Lancaster
Dragway. Right out of
the box, the Wix Lumina
went 4.39 at 164 mph.
More than good enough
for the number one spot.
In the finals, we faced
my good friend, Joe Lillenthial.
Joe crews on the Wix Lumina
and races his My Vice
Jeep. I left on Joe, only
to have the car blow the
tires off in second gear.
The closest I've come
to crashing. The Wix Lumina
finished that race in
the wrong lane.
From
Lancaster, we went straight
to Toronto Motorsports.
They were holding their
Labour Day Spectacular.
Saturday morning, the
crew woke up to lots of
work. The lenco transmission
had to be changed. We
also found the rear gear
set broken. We installed
the spare 4.56 gears.
That gear
change haunted us the
whole weekend. Fortunately,
we qualified number 6
with a 4.54 at 210 mph.
Our first round opponent
was Ray Commisso. I let
the clutch out, everything
was smooth and straight.
Shifted second, and destroyed
the clutch pack in the
transmission. An early
end to our race day. A
special thanks to all
my sponsors who stepped
up to help put this race
on. All the extra effort
is appreciated. Especially,
the Dana Boys. Any day
at the track is a great
day. Hope to see you at
Lebanon Valley, September
20-21. Kasey.

Hi everyone.
The KC Auto team ventured
to the Bend this past
weekend. Leaf Race Wear
was having their 6 second
shootout. The weekend
looked great as the KC
Auto team pulled out of
Niagara Falls on Saturday.
That did not last long.
By Hamilton, we were driving
through rain. Unbelieveably,
when we arrived at the
Bend, the sun was shining.

Our first
qualifier wasn't to be
until 7 pm. Sure enough,
by then the rain had come.
Saturday night was cancelled.
Sunday morning, we awoke
to rain. By 9am, the rain
had stopped. Because of
the rain, the qualifiers
were reduced to just one.
The quick 8 was called
to the staging lanes.
The KC Auto team was first
in line. I let the clutch
out, and to my relief,
the old car was back again.
Straight and true. A 6.46
at 207 mph. Good enough
for the number one spot.
Now I've got to learn
how to drive again. The
finish line at the Bend
gives me grief. This pass
was no different. I lifted
a 6.02 seconds. The Wix
Lumina was on another
low 6.40 shot. It's good
to have her back. Shortly
after our qualifier, the
rain came back, and cancelled
the race. A very wet weekend.
Our next
race is at Lebanon Valley,
August 15. Hope to see
you there. Kasey.

Hi everyone.
KC
Auto team ventured to
Toronto Motorsports for
the IHRA ACDelco Canadian
Nationals event. We were
there to learn. This year
has been a learning experience
with the new clutch. After
Grand Bend's race last
week, we made a few adjustments.
The first qualifier was
Friday morning. I let
the clutch out and ran
clean for the first time
this year. A 6.48 at 215
mph.
A definite
step in the right direction.
Next we tried a gear change
in the transmission. Came
out for the second qualifier
and rocked again. We carded
a 6.43 at 216 mph. A great
start to the weekend.
The KC Auto team wasn't
done yet. We received
a bye run first round
for being the number one
qualifier. The KC Auto
team put their heads together
to pick up the pace again.
We dialed the car 6.38
on Sunday morning. Mostly,
in celebration of my birthday.
I turned 38 on Saturday.
I was late on the tree.
But the car ran true and
clean again. An unbelieveable
6.39 at over 218 mph.
An amazing run for the
weather conditions. Our
best mile per hour ever.
But not enough to win
the round. Driver failure.
The KC Auto team had a
great weekend. It's nice
to have a bad hot rod
again. I've got to thank
Jerry Highway, Jim Oddy,
and the KC Auto team for
all the hard work. It's
finally starting to pay
off. The Wix Lumina is
tripping to Grand Bend
this weekend. Hope to
see you there. All weekends
at the track are great
weekends. Kasey.
July

Hi
everyone. The KC Auto
team ventured to the Stratford
Spectacular at Grand Bend
this weekend. KC Auto
had their appreciation
day this weekend. The
boys put on a fabulous
bbq for everyone. Over
120 people from Dana attended.
A great time was had by
all. I will say, it was
nice to see and meet everyone.
The car did well also.
We qualified #1 with a
6.75 at over 205 mph.
Finally getting a few
of the bugs worked out
of the new clutch. The
same could not be said
for the weather. Sunday
was rained out. Still,
every weekend at the track
is a good weekend. Next
weekend is the AC Delco
Nationals. We just finished
work on the new tower.
Everything looks great.
Hope to see you there.
Kasey.

Hi. How's everyone?
The weekend was filled with racing. Friday morning, we packed up and went to
Lebanon Valley for their ProMod shootout, held during the NHRA divisional race.
The Wix Lumina went out and qualified #2. The car won't stop shaking in second
gear. What an aggravation. We were to face Vinny Budano, from Long Island, in
the finals. I let the clutch out, and we were off first. My .455 light, to his
.511. I'm leading, can't see him, shift into second, and the shakes back. I pedal,
and run a 6.70 at 214 mph. Not good enough. Vinny came around me when the car
shook. Close. But not nearly good enough
 |
The
KC Auto team packed
up and drove through
the night to St.
Thomas Dragway
for their Featherlite
Can Am Nationals.
Not much fun. Saturday
was a beautiful
day. The Wix Lumina
still had the shakes.
We qualified with
a dissapointing
4.43 in the 1/8th.
Number 5. |
|
The
KC Auto team
rallied together
to face first
round opponent,
Mark Nielsen.
I let the clutch
out and jump
out to the lead.
Again, another
great light.
A .510 to Mark's
.667. This one
we win. Our 4.61
to his quicker,
but not quick
enough, 4.49.
A holeshot win.
Second
round, we faced
Larry Sinke.
Larry was the
number one qualifier.
The lights came
down, Larry and
I left together.
|
 |
The
Wix Lumina went straight
down for the first time
all weekend. But not quick
enough. Larry's 4.32 was
too much for us. Overall,
it was a great weekend
of racing.
| Hope
to see you at Grand
Bend in 2 weeks.
All weekends racing
are great weekends.
Kasey. |

Hi everyone. Last night
was the Lancaster ProMod
Blowout. My favorite place
to race. For some unknown
reason, Lancaster and
I are one. We haven't
been running well lately.
And went to Lancaster,
with some apprehension.
Jim Oddy had just finished
putting the touches on
our second motor, we'll
call him Spanky. Another
stout motor from Jim.
On the first qualifier,
we let the clutch out
and went in to instant
tire shake. Oh No!!!!!
The KC Auto team didn't
let me down. They put
their heads together,
made a few adjustments,
and ready for the second
qualifier. On this pass,
I let the clutch out.
She was shaking. But going
down the track. Oh Oh,
what does that red light
mean. By the time the
dumb struck driver remembered
it was the shift light,
I had already lifted and
dumped the chutes. The
whole time, I was thinking
I had blown it. We ran
4.50 at 144 mph. One hundredth
quicker than the #3 qualifier.
We were in the finals
for the Chicago style
shootout. My opponent
in the finals was to be
Mat Guenther. Mat is the
son of Mike Guenther.
Mat is a young, 18 year
old, who had been mowing
the tree down on every
pass. I was pumped for
the finals. The KC Auto
team made a few minor
adjustments to the car
and out we went. At the
flash of the tree, I let
the clutch out. The car
went smooth, I plugged
second, again smooth as
silk. Mat isn't anywhere
in site. I shift into
third and the car starts
to drift sideways. I lifted
and dumped the chutes.
Mat's not there. The KC
Auto team had won another
one at Lancaster. It's
a great feeling to do
well. And the best part
was the holeshot I put
on the Kid. Our next race
is at Lebanon Valley on
July 4th. I'll talk to
you after that weekend.
A day at the races is
always a great day. Kasey
June

Well,
it was another weekend
at Grand Bend Motorplex,
and this time around it
was the IHRA's Canadian
Nationals.. Trouble is
the "Bend" and
I just don't get along.
We traveled in on Thursday,
and looked forward to
having some fun in spite
of the unseasonably cool
weather. Friday looked
like it was going to be
a great day, until the
starter broke, that is.
Everything went down hill
from there - we ended
the weekend with a broken
lifter and took out the
camshaft. All in all,
it was a weekend to forget.
Our next outing will be
at Lancaster, New York
on June 18.
Hope to see you there!
May 03
Hi
everyone. The KC Motorsports
team ventured to Grand
Bend, this past weekend,
for their ProMod Bash.
Our tire shake problems
still persisted. It
was
very disappointing.
Considering, we spent
the previous
week changing everything
in the back of the
car.
Saturday night, we
tore the car apart
looking
for the answer. We
found it. First round
on Sunday
was looking promising.
The KC Auto team had
worked
hard the night before.
And hopefully, we had
something for Larry
Sinke,
in the first round.
I let the clutch out,
pulled
second gear, and off
we went. A 6.71 at
203 mph,
for the round win.
We had cured the tire
shake. Next round,
we had Joe Boniferro.
Joe had run
a 6.58 the round before.
The KC team had their
hands full. We tweaked
and massaged Mona for
the challenge. I let
the
clutch out. Mona was
on another great run.
A 6.53
at 211 mph. Low for
the round. But it was
a heart
breaker. I had let
the team down. Joe
beat me
on a holeshot. A crusher
for me, personally.
I
won't let the team
down again. We're heading
to
Grand Bend in two weeks
for the national. Mona
should be faster and
quicker
by then. Hope to see
you there. Kasey.
Well,
Another race season is
upon us.
The KC Motorsports Team
is geared up and ready
to make another assault
on the Canadian and selected
American Quick 8, Pro-Mod
/ Top Sportsman Events.
Again this year the team
has returning sponsors,
As well as a couple of
new ones. T.B.A. (still
working on all of the
details.) The team it
self has overcome our
trying year of 2002 and
we think we might have
figured out some of our
problems.
Only time will tell. Also
before we even get started
racing, on behalf of the
KC Motorsports Team I
would like to thank all
of our sponsors, Friends
and Families. For the
continued support in our
race team. Because we
all know without them
or team would not be able
to do what we love, RACE!
So feel Free to stop by
our pit and say Hello
get and autograph, or
take a picture because
in our sport there is
no barrier between Fans
and Racers.
Just Come
and Enjoy!
April/03
Hi everyone. The season
has started. We ventured
to Lebanon Valley for
their season opener. The
trip went great. The rig
performed flawlessly.
If only the racing went
that well. We qualified
with an ugly on and off
the gas shot that put
us in the number 6 qualifying
spot. We just can not
get the shake out of the
car. Needless to say,
first round was the same.
Sideways, out of shape,
and home we went after
first round. This week
we will concentrate on
going over the complete
car. The gremlin is somewhere.
Now to find it. Hope to
see you at Grand Bend
in two weeks. Just remember
all days at the races
are great days. Kasey.

From the pages of
Drag
Race Canada
Canadian supercharged
doorslammer racer
extraordinaire Kasey
Janzen (from
St. Catherines)
made his IHRA "legal"
Pro Modified class
debut during last
weekends AC-Delco
Nationals at Virginia
Motorsports Park.
Janzen who
|
 |
|
is
well known within
Canada's Outlaw
Pro Mod and IHRA
Quick 8 circuits
driving his supercharged
Chevy Lumina, tried
his hand for the
first time in IHRA's
Pro Mod division
during the event.
Ultimately after
four rounds of qualifying,
Janzen missed eliminations
for the very fast
Pro Mod program,
despite a best run
of 6.477 secs at
218.41 mph. While
disappointed with
the DNQ, Janzen,
the 2000 CDRS Pro
Mod Champ, was still
pleased with his
solid first professional
class start.
"Going
IHRA legal Pro Mod
has been in the
back of our minds
for quite some time,"
said Janzen. "But
when IHRA killed
the Top Sportsman
Quick 8 program
after last season
we had to put ourselves
in the position
to step up. The
basic car was already
mostly legal so
over the winter
we contacted Jim
Oddy who agreed
to do an engine
program. Then we
went ahead and did
a lot of work to
the look of the
car and make it
lighter
